Linking a Purchase Order line to a Sales Order for a Customer.
Introduction
When you purchase an item that you want to link to a Sales Order, you can mark that Purchase Order line to link it to the Sales Order number.
Edit a Purchase Order to link an item to a Sales Order
- Go to Payables > Purchase Orders.
- Select the Purchase Order you wish to link from.
- Double click the line item that you wish to link to a Sales Order.
This takes you to the Edit Purchase Order Line window.
- Go to the Allocations for purchase order line section on the bottom left of the screen.
- Click Add specific stock allocation details.
This now takes you to the Direct allocation from the purchase order to a receivable account window.
- Select one of either the Receivable account OR the Sales Order from the dropdown lists.
- Enter the Client order # if known.
- Enter the Receivable account quantity required.
- You can enter pricing details if required, otherwise the details from the Receivable Account will be used.
- Click Save.
This will now be shown on the Allocations for purchase order line screen.
-
Click Save and Close.
Packing Slip records the Sales Order number
When the item arrives and is received in from the Purchase Order, this process produces a Packing Slip and that will have the Sales Order number, which identifies it as being for the customer.
