Setting up a Kit of several Stock components.
A Kit is a collection or pack of several Stock items that are commonly sold together. The Stock items in a Kit would often be required for a particular piece of work, e.g, a Bathroom Kit could contain a bath, shower and shower fittings, vanity, handbasin, taps and toilet.
Each Stock item can still be sold separately. However, you can set up a Kit with a special price for the combined components.
Once you have started a Sales Order with a Kit, the selling price and stock costings will be retained unless you chose to update them.
Create a Kit
- Go to Stock > Stock details.
- Click New Stock Item.
On the Create New Stock screen:
- Code: Add a Code for this Kit.
- Description: Add a Description.
- Stock Group: Select a Stock Group from the dropdown list.
- Discount Group: Select a Discount Group from the dropdown list.
- Selling Price: Enter a Selling price for all combined components in this Kit.
- Click Save & Close.
Clicking Save & Close takes you back to the first Stock details screen where you can now add the component Stock Items to make up this Kit.
Add Component Stock Items to your Kit
Now you can add the individual Stock Items to the Kit.
On the Stock details page for the new Kit:
- Click the Components tab.
In the Add New Component section of the screen.
- Select the first Stock Item as a component for the Kit.
- Add the Quantity.
- Click Add Component.
- Repeat for all Stock Items that make up the Kit. The selected Stock Items will now be displayed.
When you have added all the component Stock items for this Kit:
- Click Save, or Save and Close.
In the Stock details screen for the Kit, you can see the field Is Kit has been ticked automatically. This field is set automatically and cannot be manually changed.
In the Stock details screen for each of the component Stock items for the Kit, you can see the field Is Component has been ticked automatically. This field is set automatically and cannot be manually changed.
Add a Sales Order for a Kit
Adding a Sales Order for a Kit is the same as adding any Sales Order. Refer to Create a Sales Order for more information.
The difference is that you need to select only the Kit Stock Item, and a Quantity of 1. The Sales Order will show one Stock Item, which is the Kit, and will include all the items in the Kit.
You can then print a Pick List for all items for the Sales Order.
TIP: The individual Stock items should have their individual Cost prices set up in the Stock Item > Pricing screen to be able to show the Cost price of the Kit.
Print a Pick List for a Kit
You can print a Pick List to show all items in the Kit to be picked up from the warehouse.
- Go to the Sales Order.
- Go to the Actions tab.
- Click View Pick List.
This will provide you with a list of all the component Stock items in the Kit.
