Connect Your AI Assistant to Lentune's MCP
Use ChatGPT, Claude or Cursor to get work done in Lentune for you.
Overview
The Lentune MCP connector connects your AI assistant directly to your Lentune account. MCP (Model Context Protocol) is an open standard that lets AI tools securely connect to other software. Once connected, you can use AI to answer questions, and complete everyday tasks in Lentune for you .
Lentune hosts the connector, so there's nothing to install. Simply connect from ChatGPT, Claude, or Cursor and sign in with your usual Lentune login.
What You Can Use the MCP For
Use your AI assistant to find information that's already in Lentune, and you can also ask it to do the work for you, such as creating a purchase order, updating invoice coding, assigning a variation, or correcting a timesheet entry.
Before the assistant creates, edits or deletes anything, it shows you a plain-English preview of the change. Nothing is saved until you confirm. Once you do, the change goes straight into your live Lentune data, just as if you’d made it yourself.
We're continually adding new capabilities to the Lentune MCP connector, so be sure to keep an eye on our release notes for the latest improvements and supported actions.

How to Connect
Before you start, make sure:
- You have a Lentune account that signs in using an email sign-in code. The MCP connector does not currently support other sign-in methods.
- You have an AI tool that supports remote MCP servers (sometimes called custom connectors):
- Claude: Free, Pro, Max, Team or Enterprise plan. Free plans can connect one custom connector.
- ChatGPT: Pro, Team, Enterprise or Edu plan, with Developer Mode enabled.
- Cursor: Any recent version.
Connect to Claude
- Open Settings → Connectors (on the individual plan this appears under Customize → Connectors).
- Click "+" (Add), then choose Add custom connector.
- Name:
Lentune - Remote MCP server URL:
https://lentunemcp.lentune.com/api/mcp - Leave Advanced settings empty (no OAuth Client ID / Secret needed).
- Click Add.
- Back on the Connectors list, click Connect next to Lentune. A sign-in window opens — log in with your Lentune credentials and approve access.
- In a chat, click the "+" button → Connectors and enable Lentune for the conversation.
Team / Enterprise: An organisation owner adds the connector once under Organisation settings → Connectors → Add → Custom → Web (enter the Production URL above). Each member then goes to Customize → Connectors, finds Lentune and clicks Connect to complete the login.
Claude Code (CLI)
Run the following, then authenticate:
claude mcp add --transport http lentune https://lentunemcp.lentune.com/api/mcp
Then start Claude Code and run /mcp, select Lentune → Authenticate, and complete the login in the browser. Run /mcp again to confirm the status shows connected.
Connect to ChatGPT
Requires a Pro, Team, Enterprise or Edu plan and Developer Mode enabled.
- Enable Developer Mode: Settings → Connectors → Advanced, toggle Developer Mode on.
- Go to Settings → Connectors and click Create.
- Enter the connector details:
- Name:
Lentune - Server URL / MCP Server URL:
https://lentunemcp.lentune.com/api/mcp - Authentication: choose OAuth if prompted.
- Name:
- Tick the trust/confirmation checkbox and click Create.
- When prompted, complete the sign-in and approve access. ChatGPT then lists the tools the Lentune server provides.
- In a chat, click "+" → More → Developer Mode and enable Lentune for that conversation.
Connect to Cursor
You can configure MCP either through the UI or by editing the config file directly.
Via the UI
- Open Cursor Settings → Tools & MCP (also shown as Tools & Integrations).
- Click New MCP Server — this opens
mcp.json. - Add the entry below, then save.
- Back in Tools & MCP, the Lentune server appears. Click Login / Authenticate and complete the sign-in. The status turns green when connected.
Config file — global at ~/.cursor/mcp.json, or project-specific at .cursor/mcp.json:
{ "mcpServers": { "lentune": { "url": "https://lentunemcp.lentune.com/api/mcp" } } }
That is all that’s required — Cursor discovers the OAuth settings automatically and prompts you to log in. You do not need to add a CLIENT_ID or CLIENT_SECRET.
First-time login
Whichever tool you use, the first connection follows the same flow:
- The tool opens a browser window at the Lentune sign-in page.
- Sign in with your Lentune credentials.
- Review and approve the access request.
- The window closes and the connector shows as connected. Your session is remembered, so you won’t need to log in every time.
Ask the assistant something that requires Lentune, for example:
"Using Lentune, search for my branches."
If it returns Lentune data, the connector is working.
Troubleshooting
- "Failed to connect" / server unreachable — check the URL is exactly
https://lentunemcp.lentune.com/api/mcpwith no trailing spaces, and that you’re online. - Login window doesn’t appear — disable pop-up blockers, or click Connect / Authenticate again from the connector settings.
- Connected but no tools — reload the app; in Claude/ChatGPT make sure the connector is enabled for the current conversation via the "+" menu.
- Access denied after login — your Lentune account may not have MCP access enabled yet; contact the Lentune team.
Security and Privacy
The connector runs under your own Lentune login, so the assistant works through your account rather than a shared one. Sign-in is handled securely through OAuth, so there are no keys or passwords stored in your AI tool.
You can disconnect at any time by removing the Lentune connector from your AI tool. Data the assistant reads through the connector is processed by your AI provider (for example, Anthropic for Claude) under that provider’s terms. Check your organisation’s AI policies before you connect.
FAQs
Q: Do I need to enter a client ID or secret?
A: No. Leave any advanced or OAuth fields empty. Your AI tool picks up the sign-in settings automatically.
Q: I get a “Failed to connect” message. What should I check?
A: Make sure the address is exactly https://lentunemcp.lentune.com/api/mcp with no spaces at the end, and that you’re online.
Q: The sign-in window doesn’t appear.
A: Turn off any pop-up blockers, then click Connect or Authenticate again from your connector settings.
Q: It says it’s connected, but the assistant isn’t using Lentune.
A: Reload the app. In Claude or ChatGPT, also check that Lentune is turned on for the current conversation through the + menu.
Q: I signed in but got an “access denied” message.
A: Your Lentune account may not have MCP access turned on yet. Get in touch with us and we’ll sort it out.
Q: What can I do with the Lentune MCP connector?
A: The Lentune MCP connector lets you use AI to work with your Lentune data using plain English. You can ask questions, find information, review records, and complete many everyday tasks without opening Lentune. While the connector can create and update records in supported areas, some actions, such as approvals and changes to approved records, must still be completed in Lentune. Before any changes are made, you'll see a preview and be asked to confirm, so you're always in control. We're continually adding new capabilities, so keep an eye on the release notes for the latest updates.
